Leave with a smooth, responsive and healthy transmission
Optimize your vehicle’s power and flexibility
Maintenance and repair of automatic and manual transmissions
The transmission is essential to the smooth operation of your vehicle. Whether automatic or manual, we provide rigorous maintenance (oil changes, diagnostics, parts replacement) and precise repairs to ensure smooth gear changes, avoid premature wear and extend the life of your gearbox.
Maintenance and repair of the clutch system
A worn clutch can cause jerking, slipping or gear shifting difficulties. Our specialists inspect the entire system – disc, mechanism, release bearing, flywheel – and carry out the necessary repairs or replacements to ensure efficient power transmission and smooth driving.
Why maintain your transmission system?
Shifting jerks? Skidding? Unusual noises? These signs may indicate worn transmission fluid or internal system wear. Preventive maintenance will preserve your gearbox’s performance – and avoid major repairs.
Over time, transmission fluid loses its viscosity, becomes clogged and can overheat. The result: less smooth gear shifting, accelerated wear on internal components and the risk of breakdown. Maintenance of the transmission system helps to:
- Maintain smooth, precise gear shifting
- Reduce the risk of overheating and internal damage
- Protect clutches, valves, seals and sensors
- Extend gearbox service life
- Avoid costly and unexpected repairs
At Alex Pneu et Mécanique, we start by inspecting your system: fluid level and quality, presence of filings, condition of seals and sensors. Then we perform an oil change or appropriate maintenance, using the fluids recommended by the manufacturer. You leave with a healthy transmission – and peace of mind.

Why choose us for your transmission system?
Clear diagnostics, transmission included
Noises, jerks, slipping or a gear that just won’t shift? We start with a complete diagnosis of your transmission – whether automatic, manual or CVT – to understand exactly what’s going on.
Complete inspection before repair
Before opening or dismantling anything, we visually inspect the housing, seals, supports, sensors and fluid level. We identify causes, not just symptoms
Transparency and accessible explanations
We explain clearly what we’ve found, what can be repaired, replaced or maintained – and what this will mean for your driving experience. No mechanical jargon, just the essentials
Targeted intervention, no parts replaced for nothing
You don’t have to change the whole box if a sensor or solenoid is all you need. We focus on efficient repairs without overselling
Qualified technicians, specialized tools
Our experts are experts in transmissions for all types of vehicles, old and new. With the right tools, compatible fluids and up-to-date training, we offer you reliable, long-lasting service
Frequently asked questions about transmission
How often should I have my transmission serviced?
Generally every 50,000 to 100,000 km, depending on the type of vehicle and transmission (automatic, CVT, manual). The manufacturer’s manual is the best reference. At Alex, we can confirm this for you, depending on your model.
What are the signs of a transmission problem?
Jolts, slipping, noises when shifting gears, a burning smell, reddish fluid leaking out, or warning lights on. If you notice any of these symptoms, a quick diagnosis can prevent a more serious breakdown
Can a transmission flush fix shifting problems?
Sometimes, yes. If the problem is old, dirty or insufficient fluid, an oil change can improve the situation. But if the problem is mechanical or electronic, you’ll need to go further.
Can all transmissions be maintained in the same way?
No. Automatic, manual, CVT or dual-clutch transmissions all have specific requirements (oil type, oil change method, frequency). At Alex, we tailor our intervention to each type.
Can I do a partial oil change myself?
In theory yes, but in practice it’s risky. The wrong fluid or improper handling can damage the transmission. Better to leave it to the pros with the right equipment
What's the difference between a transmission flush and an oil change?
A drain replaces part of the fluid (often 40-60%), while a flush uses a machine to renew almost all the circulating fluid. The choice depends on the condition of your system and the manufacturer’s recommendations.
Can preventive maintenance really prevent a breakdown?
Yes. Transmission fluid plays a crucial role in lubricating, cooling and keeping the gearbox running smoothly. Regular maintenance can prevent residue build-up, overheating and premature wear
Do you also repair or replace transmissions?
Yes, if the problem goes beyond maintenance, we’ll give you a full diagnosis and the options available: repair, replacement or remanufacturing. And always with transparency on costs and lead times.
