Exhaust system
Quiet, efficient, clean – a good exhaust system changes everything. Leave it to our team.
A healthy exhaust, a cleaner engine

Request an appointment online or by phone to inspect or repair your exhaust system.

Drop your vehicle off at the workshop: we check mufflers, catalytic converters, filters, seals and fasteners, and replace any defective parts.

Drive away with a quieter, cleaner, standards-compliant vehicle – ready for the road.
All our exhaust and emission services available
Replacing silencers, catalytic converters, exhaust pipes
The exhaust system evacuates burnt gases, reduces noise and limits pollutant emissions. We inspect silencers, catalytic converters, pipes and fasteners for leaks and corrosion. In the event of wear or damage, we replace parts with certified components for optimum, quiet and safe operation
Emissions-related repairs (O2 sensors, EVAP system)
An illuminated warning light or a refusal to pass an emissions test may be due to a faulty oxygen sensor or a leak in the EVAP system. We quickly diagnose the source of the problem and carry out the necessary repairs to restore the vehicle’s environmental compliance.
Pollution tests
An emission test checks whether your vehicle complies with regulatory emission limits. At Alex, we carry out precise tests using approved equipment, and if the limits are exceeded, we identify the causes (injectors, sensors, catalytic converter, etc.) and suggest the appropriate repairs to pass the inspection without hassle.
Why maintain and repair your exhaust and emissions system?
The exhaust system doesn’t just evacuate burnt gases: it reduces noise, protects the engine, limits pollutant emissions and ensures compliance with environmental standards. Over time, silencers, catalytic converters, pipes, O₂ sensors and EVAP systems oxidize, clog or leak. These degradations, often gradual and discreet, can lead to: increased noise, exhaust odors in the passenger compartment, over-consumption, loss of power or an illuminated engine light. Regular maintenance helps to:
- Reduce emissions and pass emissions tests
- Maintain engine performance and optimum fuel consumption
- Avoid noise, vibration and unpleasant odors
- Prevent major corrosion and costly repairs
- Ensure legal compliance and protect the environment
At Alex Pneu et Mécanique, we check the actual condition of your exhaust system: muffler, catalytic converter, pipes, O₂ sensors and EVAP system. We replace defective parts with certified components, repair leaks and carry out approved emission tests. You leave with a quieter, cleaner vehicle… and a clear diagnosis so you can decide with confidence.

Why choose us for your exhaust and emissions system?
Parts and compliance assured
We install mufflers, catalytic converters, O₂ sensors and exhaust pipes of equivalent or superior quality to the original. You leave with a quiet, high-performance vehicle that’s 100% compliant with emissions standards.
Clear, honest explanations
We show you the exact condition of your exhaust system, sensors and EVAP. There’s no gray area: you make the right decision.
Fast service, meticulous work
Clean welds, watertight joints, anti-pollution tests before and after work: our rigorous standards guarantee a watertight, durable and vibration-free system.
Useful tips, never oversold
A simple joint to change? We don’t replace the whole line. And if a sensor is in danger of distorting your emissions, we’ll let you know, without unnecessary pressure.
Experienced technicians, up-to-date equipment
Gas analyzers, EVAP testers, electronic diagnostic devices: our team masters all the technologies for gasoline, diesel and hybrid engines – from the engine light scan to the final emissions check.
Frequently asked questions about the exhaust and emissions system
What are the signs of a problem in the exhaust system?
An abnormal noise, a smell of gas in the passenger compartment, over-consumption or an engine light on can indicate a leak, corrosion or a faulty component (muffler, catalytic converter, O₂ sensor…).
How often should exhaust system components be replaced?
There’s no set interval, but silencers and catalytic converters can last between 100,000 and 200,000 km. It all depends on your usage, weather conditions and general vehicle maintenance.
Can a clogged catalytic converter or faulty O₂ sensor cause performance losses?
Yes. This can lead to poor combustion, loss of power, misfires, and over-consumption. Electronic diagnostics are the key to finding out
My car failed the emissions test. What should I do?
We carry out a full inspection to detect the cause (catalytic converter, O₂ sensor, air/fuel mixture, EVAP system…). Then, we suggest the most reliable solution to pass the next inspection.
What exactly is the EVAP system?
It’s a system that prevents gasoline vapors from escaping into the atmosphere. A poorly closed fuel cap, a faulty solenoid valve or carbon filter can cause the engine light to come on
Can I drive with a noisy or damaged exhaust?
This is not advisable. Beyond the noise, a leak can let toxic gases into the cabin, damage the engine or cause you to fail the mechanical inspection.
Do you do emissions testing on site?
Yes. We have the equipment to measure emissions and tell you if your vehicle is compliant. And if it isn’t, we can correct the problem quickly
Do you replace parts with standards-compliant products?
Absolutely. All our components (mufflers, catalytic converters, sensors) meet or exceed manufacturers’ specifications and environmental requirements.
