What is a wheel alignment?
Wheel alignment involves adjusting the angle of the tires so that they are perfectly parallel to each other and perpendicular to the road, according to the manufacturer’s specifications.
Over time, impacts such as a pothole, a kerb or driving on a damaged road can upset these angles. The result: the vehicle pulls to one side, the steering wheel is no longer straight, and tires wear out faster.
Proper alignment helps to:
- Maintain stable, straight steering
- Reduce premature tire wear
- Save fuel
- Improve handling and safety
- Provide a smoother, more comfortable ride
At Alex Pneu et Mécanique, we use high-precision equipment to realign your wheels to the nearest millimeter, following the manufacturer’s standards.

Frequently asked questions about alignments
What's the purpose of an alignment?
An alignment ensures that your wheels are positioned correctly, according to the angles specified by the manufacturer. This improves handling, reduces tire wear and increases safety.
What are the signs of misalignment?
- Steering wheel pulls to one side
- Steering wheel no longer straight, even in a straight line
- Uneven or rapid tire wear
- Vehicle unstable or “floating” on the road
At what frequency to make an alignment?
We recommend having your wheel alignment checked:
- Ideally every time you change your tires
- At least once a year or every 20,000 km
Is an alignment necessary after changing my tires?
Yes, especially if the old tires showed signs of uneven wear. Proper alignment extends the life of new tires.
What's the difference between alignment and balancing?
Alignment corrects the angle of the wheels. Balancing adjusts the weight distribution around each wheel to avoid vibrations. These are two complementary services.
Do you align all types of vehicles?
Yes, at Alex Pneu et Mécanique, we can align all types of cars… passenger, SUVs, light trucks and even some all-wheel-drive vehicles, thanks to our modern equipment.
Can I drive for a long time with a bad alignment?
This is not advisable. Incorrect alignment reduces tire life, increases fuel consumption and can compromise safety.
